About the project

A field guide, written by the people walking the field

Decor Finder is a community map of decor locations, built for players of a location-based walking game. Finding a specific decor is a real-world activity: walking streets, checking places, coming back a week later. Real-world knowledge goes stale, and a map that pretends otherwise wastes people’s time.

So the project is built around one principle: show the evidence. A location on the map is one of two things, and it always says which. It is either a community report, a place a player went to and reported, or a prediction, a place that external sources or map data suggest. Predictions are useful for planning. They are never presented as finds.

Community locations carry a plain verification state derived from the report record: reported by one player, confirmed by two or more independent sources, or strongly confirmed when several agree recently. Conflicting or old reports are shown as disputed or stale. There are no invented probability scores. Reports are never overwritten, only joined by newer observations.

Pure spots

A pure spot is a place where the in-game Detector shows a single decor type, so you can go after the decor you need instead of gambling across several. The map labels each pure spot as reported by players or predicted by a source. Only reports from the ground count as found.

What it is not

How the data works

Contributors submit observations: what they found, where and when. The server, never the app, derives each location’s public state from those observations. Anonymous drive-by voting is deliberately not a trust mechanism; standing comes from a verifiable contribution history.

Get involved

Browse the map, and when you are out walking, report what you actually see, including when a listed spot is gone. A report that nothing is there is as valuable as a find. Please read the contribution rules first.
