Data deletion
Delete your data
Last updated: 23 September 2026.
This page needs no account and no login. It covers two different requests, because they are two different things: deleting your account and the data you gave us, and withdrawing a public post of yours that we used as a source.
1. If you have a Decor Map account
- Sign in and open Settings → Data.
- Choose Export to download what we hold, or Delete to remove it.
- Deletion removes your account, your saved locations, your collection and your notification settings, and detaches your identity from contributions the map still depends on. Where an automated endpoint is not available yet, that page says so rather than pretending.
If you cannot sign in — a lost password, a guest session, a deleted mailbox — use the contact route below and say so. We will not require you to recover an account in order to leave.
If you subscribe to Premium, read this before deleting. Deleting your account here does not cancel a subscription you bought through your app store, and it does not refund one. Only the store can do that, and it is yours to do: on iPhone or iPad, Settings → your name → Subscriptions; on Android, the Play Store → Subscriptions. If you delete your account while a subscription is still running, the store will keep billing it until you cancel it there. Cancel first if that is what you want.
When your account is deleted we also ask RevenueCat, the service that processes our subscriptions, to delete the customer record it holds for you. That request removes their record of your purchase history and the pseudonymous account identifier we gave them. It is a deletion request to them, not a cancellation at the store — those are different things, and only the second one stops the billing.
2. If we used a public post you wrote
Decor Map reads public posts in which players have published a real-world decor location, so a moderator can review the claim and, with attribution and a link back to your original post, consider placing a pin. Threads is one such source, read only through Meta’s official API.
If you want your post removed as a source, tell us and we will withdraw it. You do not need an account here, and you do not have to give a reason.
Include whichever of these you have — the link alone is enough:
- the link (permalink) to your post;
- or the handle that posted it, and roughly when.
What happens next:
- the post is withdrawn as a source, with the request recorded as the reason;
- any downloaded copy of your images is deleted — those are held privately for at most 24 hours in the ordinary course anyway, and are never shown publicly;
- the derived record that cited your post stops supporting anything, and a map pin that depended on your post alone is retired with it;
- we do not re-add it. A post removed on request is not re-collected on the next search.
If your post has already been deleted on the platform where you published it, no request is needed: a source we can no longer retrieve is treated as removed.
